Our district worked hard to develop a plan that provides high value for taxpayer investment in our schools.

Spending dollars responsibly is an essential goal in Rochester Public Schools, but continuing to make cuts will only diminish our students’ educational experience.

The proposed plan would raise the school district’s operating levy by $1,133 per student, subject to an annual increase at the rate of inflation – from $943 per student to $2,076 per student. This investment would generate $19.4 million annually for 10 years to provide financial stability and support the programs and services that help our students thrive.

The tax impact

  • If approved by voters, this investment in Rochester Public Schools will be supported by a property tax increase that would take effect in 2025.

  • Your individual tax impact will depend on the value of the property you own. For example, a home valued at $350,000 would see an estimated property tax increase of $29 per month.

  • You can determine the projected tax impact of your property by using our tax calculator.

Holding ourselves accountable

If voters approve the referendum, RPS will create a dashboard on our website that will allow the public to track every dollar that goes to support these priorities for the life of the referendum.
